  • They Say...

Sweet Luck of Amaryllis takes Retsin's sound from minimal, lo-fi territory into truly gorgeous and well-polished areas; the duo's use of shimmering electric guitars (and more percussion than on previous releases) almost merits the "slowcore" tag, with its instrumental constructions alternately provoking references to Tsunami, a more earthy version of Low, or the quieter moments of New Radiant Storm King's Hurricane Necklace. Sweet Luck also tends to rely on complex and appealing pop songwriting more than some of the band's earlier releases, a step into musical maturity that serves the group very, very well.
