David Thrussell spearheads Snog into their fourth electronic music release, Third Mall From the Sun. This release marks both a return to the cutup textures featured on their previous release, Buy Me...I'll Change Your Life, and an evolution of the dancier electronic elements from earlier releases. While Buy Me...I'll Change Your Life could be considered an experiment in terms of their sound, Third Mall From the Sun fuses this style with their earlier solid foundation of danceable rhythms and an ironically relaxed feel. This serves as the cushion for a Snog's expected scathing social critique (delivered in the Thrussell's trademark gargeled vocals). The music is more layered and complex in this release, marking an evolution from the sounds of Lies Inc. and Dear Valued Customer. There is also a great variety between tracks. The danceable electronica sound is marked on tracks such as "Are You Normal Enough" and "Real Estate Man," later drifting through melodic soundscapes ("Is There No One That Can Save Us From Today?") and metal guitar samples ("Slide Into Extinction"). Snog's sound continues to escape easy definition and warrants repeat listening. Some fans may not feel that there are any classics in the realm of previous hits, "Corporate Slave" or "Cliche," but this is a strong release with its own share of gems.
