Eminently quotable, this is perhaps the most incisive demolition of pop music criticism it has ever been my pleasure to bust a gut over. If you're a friend or foe of rock critics, this is essential listening. It's from WFMU DJ Tom Scharpling's hysterical call-in show, the modestly titled "The Best Show on WFMU," and the guest this particular night is a fellow named Ronald Thomas Clontle (actually Superchunk drummer Jon Wurster) who has written the definitive pop music guide, or, as he so often refers to it, "the ultimate argument settler" when it comes to which bands rock, rot or rule. Much hilarity ensues.
