What does it take to beat out Beyoncé? Apparently a little pout, a little synth and a little violin. The Florida darkwave group Cruxshadows, using a combination of all of the above, knocked Ms. Knowles out of the top spot on the Billboard Hot Dance Singles Sales Chart last month. The song that achieved that honor, "Sophia," is grim and gloomy and enchanting, the perfect floor-filler for Halloween parties.
