A unique mixture of indie-pop’s joyous amateurism and Interpol’s studied polish, Swedish three-piece the Bell’s Badman debut, Make Some Quiet, is a fascinating listen. Sure, between the Echo and the Bunnymen and Cure references thrown around on Make Some Quiet, you’d be hard pressed to find something new here. But when you actually hear the mood-building “ohh-ahh”’s and handclaps on “I Am History” or “Gone for Days”’ “Age of Consent”-aping bending guitar sound, you’ll probably find yourself dancing to the results instead of trying to pick them apart. (That’s when you know it’s working.)
