  • We Say...

Fifteen generations of Dagars have sung India's dhrupad devotional music. This is a fine example of their focused, meditative chant-song, beginning with a slow alap and building to a passionate conclusion.

  • They Say...

This recording also features the two brothers. Completing the ensemble are Mohan Shyam Sharma on pakhawaj and Wasifuddin and Mussarat Dagar (another daughter of Nasir Faiyazuddin Dagar) on tanpura. The notes announced it as "the first recording of Dhrupad vocal music ever released on an American label." A strong performance of a night raga.
