  • They Say...

This Sin City, not to be confused with the bootleg 1969 concert or the greatest-hits collection of the same name, is a legit 1976 concert of the Burritos burning through a set of original and classic honky tonk country. The ghost of Gram Parsons and the mighty original lineup of the Burrito Brothers is invoked on "Hot Burrito No. 2" and "Sin City." Elsewhere crowd-pleasers like Merle Haggard's "White Line Fever," George Jones' "Why Baby Why," and bluegrass chestnut "Orange Blossom Special" bolster the few originals thrown in. From within the ranks of the band, Gib Guilbeau's tender "Take a City Bride" and Sneaky Pete's "Beat the Heat" stand up to the country canon they are pitted against. Not the first place to dip into the Burritos' hefty catalog, but a fine stop along the way.
