  • They Say...

This Is Your Life was not an important album -- it launched nothing, ended nothing. It was entertaining as hell, however, hammerblowing off with tight little riffs and assimilating punk's often mislabeled joyful distrust of everything around it. Fans of the band rarely had it better than cuts "Straight Jacket," "Viva la Revolution," "Younger Generation," and the massive "Get Addicted," many of which would repeatedly appear on best-of collections over the next 20 years. This Is Your Life was the unquestionable high point of the Adicts' early career, and it would be a while before anything was as good at being socially conscious but also eager to perfect the triumphal shout-along, like Noh theater by the MC5.
