  • They Say...

When Khia's Thug Misses hit the streets there was a ridiculous exchange between hip-hop fans as to whether or not she was a good rapper. Internet message boards were crowded with the meaningless debate, and you have to wonder what in the world these fans were expecting. The reason she came to anyone's attention was the ultrasleazy, ultrasexual "My Neck, My Back (Lick It)" (originally released as "Lick My Neck My Back"), a bit of party electro that declared how much Khia enjoyed attention in areas only the freakiest of players will go. The unquotable in mixed company chorus is infectious if you're not disgusted, and the sparse electro production made it all the more fun. "The K-Wang" was the frenetic follow-up know only to the most campy record-crate haulers, but it's good enough not to write off Khia as a one-hit wonder. As far as whether or not she can rap, she can, but just because Thug Misses keeps it simple. If you like the cover, you'll like the album because Khia is more booty-call than come-hither. The album is heavy with skits -- not always isolated, but almost every song starts with one -- and they're funny. Khia's stuck-in-the-ghetto attitude is playful, honest, and endearing and carries her throughout the album, especially during the plentiful filler. Stripclub DJs and freaks of the night should track it down.
