  • We Say...

On Tea Parties, Guns & Valor Truckasauras strip techno down to its basics in a way that is both nostalgic, and not afraid to laugh at itself. The aptly titled, “Up, Up, Down, Down, L, R, L, R” appears as if it would be right at a home on an old school Sega Genesis soundtrack, and it’s easy to imagine Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi bouncing along to the electronic beat. However, the depth of Truckasauras’ skill comes to fruition when they move out of their comfort zone and let other artists throw their ingredients into the digital soup (“Hold On” with DJ Collage and the “Hold On (Dutty Larry Remix)”).

On the original “Angels Sound Like Bottle Rockets,” computer-generated arpeggios imitate guitar riffs and solos. This connection is further illuminated on the acoustic-guitar driven remix by Ghostbait, and proves that the Truckasauras sound extends far beyond the production of electronic noise.
