  • They Say...

An assortment of abstruse indie types pays respect to perennial drug merchants Spacemen 3 in this inconsistent tribute collection. The quality is split down the middle between heartless space rock noodling with none of the paranoid middle-distance and vastly atmospheric guitar-based dub that pushes Spacemen 3's technique back to its spine. Accelera Dark is aware of the spiritual poverty of "I Believe It" and makes it sound like a lecture. Transient Waves, Mogwai, and Low, on the other hand, offer grandly clever updates, slicing away enough to get to the essence of the songs and hitting you with twice the impact.
