They Say...
A major charmer: traditional songs by a family group in the dying language of Rapa Nui, some with what sound like stamping sticks, some adding guitar. The singing is the focus, and it's gorgeous, with all the freshness and verve that most recordings of southern Pacific music conspicuously lack. The tiresomely florid notes, though, are not entirely uninformative but totally lacking in specifics.
