Unfamiliar with the legendary Fania catalogue? DJ Rumor has the answer.

  • We Say...

To Latin music newbies, the Fania catalogue is a treasure trove of great tunes. But where to start? DJ Rumor provides an excellent answer to that question, offering up classic tracks, including a number of obvious appeals to listeners unfamiliar with salsa (La Lupe's "Como Acostumbro" is essentially "My Way" en español, while Joe Bataan's "Shaft" is a rendition of the movie's theme you'll be hard pressed to stop playing). Rumor mostly stays out of the way on the mix, quietly dropping out tracks at natural stopping points and smoothly bringing in the next song. For those who don't know the difference between Mongo and Monguito Santamaria, this should pique your interest for further explorations into New York salsa.
