  • We Say...

Though functionally a soundtrack for the Spanish-language film of the same name, La Mujer De Mi Hermano works surprisingly well as a stand-alone album. Striking a mood somewhere between sensual and sinister, Mujer is full of low-lights and furtive glances, the kind of music that plays in bars where one in four drinks are laced with arsenic. The cover of New Order's "Blue Monday" — which is far from a feel-good song to begin with — is even more ominous and foreboding here; rapper Kemo the Blaxican reins in his aggressive delivery for a song that falls closer to low-light beat poetry. Even the usually rowdy Pinker Tones are subdued. Mujer is a record for late nights, the perfect accompaniment to mischief making — innocent or otherwise.
