  • They Say...

String Quartet Tribute to Björk: Violently reinterprets 12 of the Icelandic artist's songs as instrumentals for cello, violin, and viola. Björk's twisty, fluttery melodies are well-suited for strings, as a sweeping "Joga" and the charming romantic lilt of "Venus as a Boy" prove. "Big Time Sensuality" isn't as successful with the original's modified house stomp removed, and "Come to Me" might have been switched out for Post's "Hyperballad." But "Bachelorette" and "Possibly Maybe" are really strong, while "Army of Me" is appropriately manipulated for a grinding, mechanistic feel. It makes for an interesting listen for Björk completists.
