A profound recording of pure tones.

  • We Say...

When I visited the noted sound healer Dr. Jeffery Thompson in his Encinitas office, he demonstrated part of his theories of sound healing using a Tibetan bowl. While he works primarily with electronic frequencies in his own work, he showed me how the tones can actually impact the autonomic system. On Singing Bowls, the sound artist Xumantra performs eight tracks that show off a range of frequencies on a series of tempered bowls. I spent a fair amount of time listening to these tracks to try to get my inner ear back in balance. While my vertigo hasn't abated, I did manage to attain a realized state of non-dual nirvana, to see all of my past 2,000 lives, to commune with alien intelligence and to make love to Madonna on the fourth dimension while Kabalistic cherubim serenaded us with ancient ahramaic love poems. Unfortunately, I still can't walk a straight line. In essence, it's a profound recording if one is willing to spend time with its symphony of pure tones.

  • They Say...

Marco Dolce, aka Xumantra, is a student of Tibetan singing bowls and their history. He explains that there is no documentation of their use in ancient rituals, but that "rumors" refer to secrecy about their roles. Singing Bowls, his debut CD, demonstrates the sonority and power of the bowls. The vibrations and harmonics tune to the synapses of the brain. Deep listeners will enter into a trancelike state. Meditation is a natural occurrence, almost unavoidable. These instruments are ideal for this purpose. This disc will appeal to fans of Life in Balance, Karma Moffett, Thea Surasu, and Klaus Wiese.
