Try Delhi 6!

I have mixed reactions but really liked Delhi 6 and Dil Gira Dafatan. Compilations like this can be a good way to find new artists.

i liked masakali when this album came out. today i downloaded genda phool and aarti. to Kx4Bliss: a.r rahman is popular in india because he is able to mix western and eastern (and other musical) styles very well. that's his appeal. if he goes too much classical eastern..some of his indian audiences (say..youth) may not like him :)

After I heard the "Genda Phool" song a few times in my American Airlines flight to India, it some how stuck in my head - a nice folk song. Researched the internet and found more details about this song (movie etc.) and found that lot of people have liked this song. Nice folk song - very nice vocal and music.

I know this is a movie soundtrack album...it is the eastern element that draws me to it. AAR is a wonderful composer. His flirting with western (american) sounds is distracting. It's like putting saffron on a Big Mac...you can eat it but it tastes terrible.
