With the exception of the major ballets as recorded by Bernstein, whose infallible rhythmic spring and energy in the NY Phil/Columbia years make those THE versions to have, these are fabulous versions and certainly recommendable. If you can only have one, then by all means get these! The Appalachian Spring is a classic and is the original chamber version. He knew how to get his music to sound and he had good orchestras at his disposal. I have loved his recordings of his own music since I was a high school kid buying my first classical LP's. Also highly recommended are his recordings of the Appalachian Spring SUITE and the Tender Land SUITE with the Boston Symphony! eMusic has it and it is ALSO a deal!
