A friend of mine gave me this almost 10 years ago. At the time, I had never heard anything outside of Hindustani music like Ravi Shankar. This disc opened me up to a whole world of music in central Asia. Ms. Parveen is like royalty in Pakistan, and with good reason. Her career spans over 4 decades, includes countless hits, and her singing is like no other. A top-notch compilation largely split between music recorded in the 70's for Pakistani radio and Tv with a full orchestra, and songs with a more stripped down style based on persian poetry using the "power trio" of voice, harmonium, and tabla. Fans of both classic Bollywood soundtracks and the sufi stylings of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan are sure to fall in love with this album.
