This is my first introduction to Grieg. The recording is great, and the dynamics are intense. Academy Of St. Martin-In-The-Fields seems to always sound good, IMHO. This is a good one for the collection.

I don't know that much about classical music either but I do know what I like. My little grand-daughter calls this princess music and listens to it every night as she falls asleep.

Speaking as a layperson

I was looking for some easy classical music I could play in the background while I work. Speaking as a total layperson who knows little about classical music, I enjoy this collection tremendously. Very easy on the ears and it sounds great to me.

Sure, Warner Brothers wasn't the only animation studio that married cartoons and classical music. Disney's Fantasia brought composers like Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, and Beethoven to cartoon audiences, but I like the irreverent slapstick and tongue-in-cheek attitude of the Warner Brothers cartoons; they can still make me laugh after decades of repeated exposure.
