I love Shaikh, and this album has tunes that just won't let you remain in your chair. Powerful and makes me want to swirl around the room. Ironically, the only piece I don't care for is 'Collective' since that's the album's namesake song. Otherwise it's great.
"Indu" is my favorite meditative piece with soft mystical alto female singing hada hada Shiva Shiva fading in and out over top an soft beat background. There's a lot of texture & variety over the 8 minute song. Same with "Beyond I," which is more upbeat. It goes through several moods--there's first the tabla drums and a sitar, then a groovy electronic synth phase, and the centerpiece is a female vocal line that builds into layered harmonies. Then the vocals go out into drums. You won't get bored with these!
