Absolutely lovely! One of my favorite albums.

This is my first review, and I'm doing it because this is one of my favorite albums. I was completely thrilled to see it on here along with a couple added tracks. In order to enjoy this album, you have to have some patience and the ability to appreciate quality, organic ambient music. Above anything, this album creates a magical atmosphere of fundamental emotions, relaxation, and a connection with nature. Some people might just think it's boring, but those that find the beauty in it will develop a special connection and love for it. Every time I listen to this cd, it takes me back to that wonderful place..... If you do like this, you might also enjoy Adham Shaikh - Journey to the Sun, Ekko - Centripetal, and Mr. Soon - Places in Arizona (which even has a similar album cover). :)

They Say All Music Guide

During August and September of 1995, Adham Shaikh and Tim Floyd journeyed to a cabin on an island in the Pacific Northwest (U.S.A.). In August, they explored the island and recorded sounds of nature, natural occurrences, and some human interactions with nature. In September they sifted through the material and added music to the recordings. They, in effect, used the nature samples as instruments. They added ethnic instruments and technical wizardry (processing, mixing, recording, engineering, and mastering) to create a “natural” soundscape. Drift is a magnificent set of minimalist soundscapes and pastoral ambience. Shaikh and Floyd took great pains to perfect this masterpiece. The organic textures and deep drones play off and to each other. Every detail of the sound design is complimentary. There are no missing elements and the performances are flawless. This CD will appeal to fans of Alio Die, Robert Rich, Viridian Sun, and Kevin Keller. It is essential for e-music and new age fans. – Jim Brenholts
