They Say All Music Guide

If you’re looking for pure, undiluted noise metal, then Agoraphobic Nosebleed are certainly the band for you. Ever since their 1998 debut, Honky Reduction, the chaps from Massachusetts always seem more than willing to bludgeon you with sonic terror on a semi-regular basis. And it’s rather unsurprising that on their 2009 release, Agorapocalypse, it’s much of the same. As with past releases, the songs on Agorapocalypse fly by at a rapid-fire pace (although at 13 songs total, it doesn’t come close to matching their 100-song assault from 2003, Altered States of America). And as always, Agoraphobic Nosebleed are good for chuckle-inducing song titles, such as “Dick to Mouth Resuscitation” and “Druggernaut Jug Fuck.” Individual standouts are pretty darn hard to select, as the entire album blends together in one massive grindcore blob. But one thing’s for sure, if you enjoyed Agoraphobic Nosebleed’s previous hijinks, chances are you’ll be delighted with Agorapocalypse. – Greg Prato
