If you don't already own this, you need to seriously ask yourself, "Why not?". Get it and be dazzled by the songwriting and the heart in the performance. Truly one of the great albums of the last twenty years.

One of his several masterpieces
Good variety of hard-rocking and light-hearted songs with more serious and contemplative material. After the second listen, you'll have it on heavy rotation for a good while.
Been a fan for years
I first heard Alejandro Escovedo when he was in the band True Believers (btw, NOT the gospel group listed to the right). Anyway, he rocked (along with his brother Javier and Jon Dee Graham). I highly recommend this album. A great offering from a superb songwriter. Check out Castanets and Velvet Guitar. I also recommend his new album Street Songs of Love.
