the unusual and the familiar
The 20th-century pieces (tracks 1 and 15) will be unfamiliar to many. I enjoyed both works by Gordon Jacobs (1895-1984) and Michael Head (1900-76). The Bach sonatas are much more familiar--but a pleasant change to hear them performed on oboe d'amore--or was it a cor anglais? Bach wrote them originally for the viola da gamba. I have versions for the original scoring, as well as cello and piano, but decided that these were well worth having too.
