Virtually unknown Italian composer Pandolfi Mealli (XVII century) has left us with only 12 violin sonatas. But it is impossible to find analogues of these sonatas in the music of XVII century; in some aspects, they are similar to music of XX century. Andrew Manze is perfect performer of these fantastic creations. But this album contains only 7 of these sonatas, supplied with harpsichord suites by anonimous author. I recommend you to download another album (released by Harmonia Mundi) that contains complete sonatas by Pandolfi in the same performances. This album is also available on eMusic. Only type "Pandolfi" in the Search box.
