Andy At His Pop Culture Peak
The tunes on this 1971 Andy Williams LP were many of 1970-71's biggest hits: soft rock from James Taylor and Elton John, bubblegum from Dawn and the Patridge Family, even two George Harrison songs from the last days of the Beatles and the first of his solo career. Surprisingly, Williams' skill (and simpatico if brassy arrangements) make this a surprisingly cohesive pop/MOR set. This was Andy Williams at his peak: hit TV show, hit song from hit film, singing contemporary soft pop with relative ease. He continues to record with intermittent success, but this represents some of his finest contemporary work.
