At least they admit in the title these arent the original recordings. It aint awful, but there isnt any point if you own the Hi stuff, and perhaps the Rounder records she made last decade or so.

The playing here is respectful and these tracks really don't sound too bad (though if you can't summon up a finely developed camp sensibility for the occasion, you'd best give a wide berth to "Tears in Heaven", which really is a cover of the Clapton 'classic'). But you'll have to look elsewhere for the Hi Records recordings with which Ann Peebles made her name.
