The beautiful sound is made up by the contrasts of Shelton’s biting alto, Jason Adasiewicz’s lapidary vibes, Jason Roebke’s powerful bass and Tim Daisy’s sharp, roiling drums. The tracks are structured in idiosyncratic and sophisticated ways, with a muscular musical logic that gives the players space to stretch themselves without dissipating.
