Classic Pop

Deutschehund

This album has a classic, 70s pop sound to it. I highly recommend it. It is nothing like his other work, or like the Sea and Cake (although his other work and the Sea and Cake are also excellent, just different)

An underrated gem

boatofcar

Archer Prewitt has many records that dwell on the melancholy. This is not one of those records. Like The Cure's "Wild Mood Swings," this record is sure to disappoint fans wanting more of the same, but for the uninitiated, this record is, track-for-track, the most consistent, flowing, and well-realized work in Archer Prewitt's canon. If you want to download one track to try it out, get "No Defense."

They Say All Music Guide

After detouring with the spare, ghostly Gerroa Songs, Archer Prewitt returns to the whip-smart pop sensibilities that defined his first two LPs, upping the ante to reveal an altogether new sophistication and complexity that spur his music to unexpected heights of brilliance. Though rooted in classic pop traditions, the 14 sterling songs that comprise Three evolve and mutate to twist those traditions inside out. Each cut overflows with ideas and surprises, but while stop-on-a-dime shifts in structure and tempo are a fixture, the music is never anything less than giving and accessible, complete with a pervasive lyrical optimism and humanity that dovetails perfectly with the buoyant melodies and sun-kissed arrangements. – Jason Ankeny
