what's not to like here....

Do you like Pavement? Superchunk? Polvo? the Fall? the Replacements? The Archers of Loaf have a unique guitar sound that blends elements of all of these groups , but that doesn't quite do it justice. Indeed I can't do it justice with my little blurb here. I love guitar sounds that are squawky, dissonant, loud, sweet and sour and angular. Plus they rock! Missed dearly , but what can you do? Ethel Merman is one of their best B-sides that should have been an A-side, by the way.

Yeah, I had this 7" too and loved the b-side. When they played through SLC in (I think) '94 - I screamed for this song through the whole set (hey - I was really psyched!). The audience was small, but I got up on stage and demanded that we shout for an encore - which we got. And they played "Ethel Merman." I still consider that one of my greatest rock memories!

"What did you expect" is one of the finest songs this band ever wrote. I've always loved this seven inch and it will be so nice to have it on the pod. FYI-The song titles are reversed.
