Jazz is NOT DEAD!- It just smells funny!

Ari Hoenig is a 'musician' NOT just another 'drummer'! Melody and harmony play as important a part in ALL these compostions as da riddim. Ari is not about muscle music and he surrounds himself with incredible artists. Gilad and Tigran are indeed masters in thier own rite but when conbined with Ari this CD seeps into your head. When you keep reaching for the music each day that is when you know the music is infectious. I have seen Ari in NYC and elewhere MANY times and each performace live is different and in varied musical settings. This CD captures his musicianship that is usualy only found in a live show. Jean Michel-Pilc was the longtime counterpoint to Ari, however these musicians are complete with nuance, taste, telepathy, and they all combine to make perfect improvisational lauching pad on each tune. Get it, listen and let it sink in! MIKE P.
