For those who were turned on to nuevo flamenco via Bolero Gypsies, Vol. 1 — or for those who dig it period — Bolero Gypsies New Flamenco, Vol. 2 is literally more of the same: sophisticated, highly produced flamenco music that offers new versions of many of the original tunes, and some classical cuts in the new flamenco style. The artists are virtually identical to those on volume one. If this is your introduction to the music, it might be best to seek out some records by the Gypsy Kings first for a rawer, more immediate feel. For those who have become interested in traditional flamenco music, where the guitar is an accompaniment to the dancers, this set will be jarring because the raucous erotic energy has been toned down to a cocktail hour kind of seduction music. – Thom Jurek
