ARRIVER delivers the math-metal goods on all levels. Looking for a non-stupid concept album along the lines of Mastodon's Leviathan? These guys turn computer-generated nonsense prose into an epic tale of warring Viking kingdoms. Looking for authoritative singing? These guys have multiple lead singers who can bellow with the best of them, along with a startling a capella breakdown halfway through. Looking for the sweet spot between metal and punk? They hit the bullseye with impressive guitar solos and shifting time signatures, but always in the service of their hooky songs. Chicago-area metal fans should check them out live, the rest of you mooks should download "Vanlandingham Sunrise" first and the entire album next.
