Prog Rock Friends

BOOKRIDER8

There's some pretty cool tunes by different folk than did the original recordings...not bad if you like to listen to alt/recordings of the "Grand Masters of Rock"...Of particular interest is Rick Wakeman doing Led Zeppelin's Fool in the Rain, or Tommy Shaw doing Pink Floyd's "Money" or "One of My Turns". Not bad, considering what it is...and the Asia songs here are actually done by Asia. This is sort of a grab bag of different artists doing the original hits.

What possessed this group of tallented musicians and singers to do this? I mean Yes, Wakeman, Jethro Tull, Edgar Winter, Styx, Emerson doing songs like Boston, Led Zeplin. How do you mix Exiles with Led Zeplin? Then mix in a little latino gig. Then put 23 songs together? I gues medical marijuana might have something to do with it. I am not saying it is bad, its just close to being wierd but yet intreaging. Almost makes you buy it just to find out what happened.

Interesting...

The live version of the original Asia songs are good. The others cover songs are also decent. Over all I have to say it is just OK.

What the Deuce???

Alright, what's going on here? This is the THIRD time I've encountered a number of these songs under OTHER titles (ie: almost ALL of the Floyd covers -- by the SAME musicians -- are copied completely in their entirety from OTHER tribute "albums." Sorry, but this is just getting a bit too cheesy for me. Don't get me wrong, there are a few gems here, but when half of the "album" is regurgitated MP3 files from OTHER offerings ... ? Pffffft ...

Six degrees of separation: a whole new meaning

Wow! Have these guys taken leave of their senses? This is the most incredible line up of prog rockers, rugheads and new wavers I've seen in a long while. This is an awesome lineup of individuals, but their choice of material has to be seen (and heard) to be believed. I have to say that this line up includes so many of my favourite musicians, this is a Pete Frame nightmare! But what has induced them to combine such a mixture classic and later poppier prog with West Coast power rock? You've got it here, Crimson, Genesis, shed loads of Floyd with a few Asia numbers thrown in to stamp authority and ownership. XTC rub shoulders with ELP! Where the spirit of '77? This is so amazing I'll just have to download it to hear it in it's entirety...This is a real find.
