Trancey ambient soundscapes!
It may be loaded with samples but this is exactly the kind of thing they SHOULD be used for, it sounds like a film score (The Mission... Sunshine...?). Obviously very intense but without any pretension and the slow powerful kick drum in some tracks is a nice addition to an otherwise ambient feel.One of the best albums for trance or spiritual listeners. As for the 'Naff' violins (see below), anyone who has heard any other music apart from electronic will know these sounds from Cajun or other folk types of music.
Deep, moving ambient beats
Describing music is difficult. But for this album I just had to give it a try. Life2 by Asura keeps a steady low beat with an engaging melody. The ambient tone and slow progression keeps it interesting and never becomes dull and monotonous. Rhythmically impressive it keeps each track refreshing with ever increasing depth and reach.
Sorry - but not for me
The album kicks off with a orchestrially pretentious, cliched first track that had me braced for the first yodel of faux indian shamans. It improved afterwards, but never convincingly leaves behind the naff and the hackneyed. It also boasts some really terrible violin playing. Check out Biosphere or Aes Dana if you want to hear things done properly.
Galactic
This is a fantastic and mesmerizing ambient-electronic ride filled with sweeping soundscapes and hypnotic beats. Life^2 is easily one of the best electronic albums I've downloaded from eMusic. Highly recommended for fans of space music, ambient and downtempo electronica, with a bit of trance for flavoring. Galaxies part 1 & 2 especially standout.
Lush, Deep and Reverent
It’s clear to me, from the first track Golgotha, that this is an album of soul searching. Every track, seems to reach into an aspect of faith, shamanism, cosmology, or science (yes, it too is a religion). The familiar ASURA beat is there on cuts like Butterfly FX and Life2 and the sultry/sexy Celestial Tendencies. But it’s the incredible trance ambient tracks that glue these all altogether. Did the shakeup of ASURA’s members cause this soul searching? All I know is this is a stunningly deep album. It flows with richness but for me, it is to be listened to in the spirit of solitude, creativity or inner reflection.
