If electronic rivers could sing...

iangrey

...or something like that. meaning--the voices and songs flow float ebb and roll, the synths keep things percolating and weirdly alive. There's nobody like Au Revoir Simone.

Sweetly Addictive

jewlzmiraj

I must of listened to each song 3 times before I bought this album. Something was drawing me in. I was afraid it was going to be too slow, too bubble gum, girlie, etc. I was afraid it would get old. I went back and forth if I should buy this one or the tribute album, which is a strange concept after only having one album out, weird! This is good shit, It is addictive, it is beautiful, it is fun. You will love it Buy it, I am so happy I found this album. The 20 second intro you get, does NOT do it justice. I am so freakin' happy that I bought it.

Great voices!

AnnieVan

Au Revoir Simone falls in the catagory of music that I really shouldn't like but for some really love. I don't normally enjoy listening to music with such "sweet" voices but it works for this group. Give them a listen--you might discover they do the same for you.

TangerineLemming is hallucinating

sporkfoon

I would cringe if I heard even the slightest snippet of Air on Track 5. I loathe them. Anyhoo, it's not there. TL needs to wait until the LSD wears off to review. Anyway, enough about extraneous tangential crap that doesn't belong in an album review. This is an outstanding album. Lots of fun, singable stuff for Casiophiliacs, a mature progression from the debut. Gets off to a bit of a slow start, but picks up steam with Night Majestic and Stars, and stays solid from there on.

This is my new favorite album. If you like Camera Obscura then you will certainly appreciate Au Revoir Simone.

*swoon*

I love this album! Start with "Fallen Snow" if you're unsure. In response to the bit about "stealing" Air's music, I would like to point out that they are touring together in Europe, which would indicate to me that it was borrowed with permission.

Ripped off Air

TangerineLemming

I love their "A Violent Yet Flammable World" song, but near the end they mixed in the sound and lyrics from Air's "Surfing on a Rocket" song. I don't know if they got permission or not, but it was annoying to hear another artist's song so blatantly copied into their own song.

The Politic Melodic: A Campaign Song History

By Yancey Strickler, eMusic Contributor

In ways that grow more important by the day, the 1972 presidential contest between incumbent Republican Richard Nixon and Democrat George McGovern has dictated the tone, style and execution of every election since. It birthed the modern-day primary format; it defined and honed the press 'approach to all political coverage; it featured the most effective use of the presidency itself as a campaign asset; and, finally, even in defeat, McGovern's campaign dramatically shifted every campaign's… more »
