This album features some of the best contemporary jazz you could wish to find. Rhythm is paramount, time signatures shift and flux. Emotionally and intellectually engaging. Texture galore. Forget categories like fusion or anything else -- just enjoy on its own terms.
I started with Cohen's Continuo, which I love but which also flirts with hard fusion. Cohen and Co. pull back before I lose interest, but here At Home, the fusion is just too much for my taste. I took a risk downloading this one since most of the players are the same (with some additions), but the only track that I love is #7, which could have appeared on Continuo.
