Though it's funny on its own, it's probably best to consider Intimate Moments as a companion piece to Kanye West's watershed My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The riffs about hanging out with West in a club and partying with him at his house are priceless and lend a certain humanity to one of hip-hop's most unknowable geniuses (though his ego remains in tact — when Ansari walks into West's house and catches him listening to 808s & Heartbreak, the rapper's only response is "These beats are dope!"). The rest of the album is full of Ansari's fascinating mix of anger, sweetness and stoned brilliance, highlighted by his outrage over shows on MTV ("A lot of stuff on that network is not my cup of tea, mainly because I don't like huge pieces of shit in my tea") and his love of Craigslist ("Give me a hand job, I'll give you a coffee table — that's Craigslist!").
