Aweome downtempo
When I first heard of the genre "trip hop" this is what I thought it should sond like, not some melencholy droning over boring beats. If you love the downtempo sound but are bored with Thievery corp and others, check this out. Great beats, trippy at times, but always groovy. Great sound for a party. You can chill to it or dance to it.
Worth checking out
I first heard these guys in their three versions on Tosca's Chocolate Elvis Dubs. They were by far my favourite, and wanted to hear more. This album represents a good first step to the uninitiated, as it is a sort of best-of of their five years with Pork before they changed label. While not immediately as appealing as similar artists (and by this I mean the ear candy that is K & D, Bonobo and Thievery Corporation), by the end of this album, I had succumbed to its charms. While relying more on synths than the organic sound of the aforementioned artists, it has an edgier sound that might appeal to those looking for something different.
