A Great Band from the Seventies
The Year of the Ear was an avant-garde jazz/funk band. I caught one of their gigs in Boston in 1976 and it was exhilarating. Their sound was comparable to contemporary efforts by Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman & Prime Time, and David Liebman's Lookout Farm. Track 1 is the best place to start: Dizzy's "A Night in Tunisia" featuring Hersey's guitar and Liebman's tenor.
