Deal Me In is one of few raunchy, over-the-top rock records that actually seem to work in an artistic sense — Bantam Rooster winds up on the more straightforward, garagey end of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion aesthetic, strutting tastily through reckless, fuzzily-recorded rock tunes, and the band has the good taste to avoid self-indulgently wild constructions in favor of tight and hugely appealing rockers. Fans of anything from Jon Spencer to the Wayouts will doubtlessly be pleased. – Nitsuh Abebe
