Barry McGuire is best-known for his 1966 recording of “Eve of Destruction,” regarded as a classic of the folk protest era. Following the massive success of that single, McGuire released a few pop albums on the Dunhill label before steering his musical career in a gospel direction which this package reflects. Recorded for the contemporary Christian label Sparrow, these inspirational songs include “Anyone but Jesus,” “There Is a Peace,” and “I Love You, Lord.” The material is pleasant and uplifting, but is inappropriately titled. – Al Campbell
