  • They Say...

Now this is different: an introduction to the music of Louis Jordan that doesn't contain all the standard tracks. In fact, this 22-track collection contains a number of sides that are among the best and most innovative Jordan cut, but rarely end up on comps. "Let the Good Times Roll," "Open the Door Richard," "Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens," and "Five Guys Named Moe," are all here, representing the best known tracks by the Jordan band. Other cuts, such as "Stone Cold Dead in the Market" a duet by Jordan and Ella Fitzgerald backed by his Tympani Five, "After School Swing Session," "Look Out," "I'm Gonna Move to the Outskirts of Town," and "Somebody Done Hoodooed the Hoodoo Man," are prime examples of this band at its blowing best. The sound is excellent, and there are extensive notes in the booklet.
