In terms of Bill solo albums, I'd put Permafrost higher, but not by a lot. And it's more that "the album before it" Perfumed Letter/Fetal Position was so different from the rest of the Bill/VoL oeuvre (except for the last VoL album that preceded it, Summershine); this is more a return to form. And with an extra dollop of heart-on-the-sleeve -- and when y'r talking Bill Mallonee, that's saying something. HIGHLY recommended.
Locket Full of Moonlight is Fantastic. At first and being that it was so different from the Album before it, I wasn't full in. But the pull came from Locket Full of Moonlight, Jaws of Life, Bearing the Load, and Going South. Bill Mallonee a victim of Madison Ave. radio and the crap they push. I mean this guy is 65th of the top 100 living songwriters, voted so by his peers. See Paste Magazines "Top 100 Living Songwriters" and look at the talent he smoked.
