Beautiful Minimalist Darkwave
I listened to a few samples from this before buying it. I thought it sounded a lot like In Strict Confidence, so was really excited when the CD arrived. At first I was disappointed. All the elements were there: Clear, dark male vocal, Teutonic female counterpoint, great melodies and bass lines. But it just lacked the oomph of ISC or similar acts. After a few listens though, I realized that therein lies its beauty. It is the way each sound is so tightly controlled and each melody layer used sparingly and with such deft precision that it builds a tension in the music that has you eagerly waiting each subtle progression in a track. Very highly recommended. If you like it, this is actually the fifth album they (he) has released, but good luck tracking down the others! (You might find Trugbild if you are lucky). Also check out his old band Mantus (same vocal style but a bit more rock oriented).
