Black Moth Super Rainbow retreat back into the chrysalis? Their latest, Autumn Kaleidoscope Got Changed, is a decidedly more subdued and, well, autumnal affair. The vintage synths are still here, yes, but the surreal cartoon insanity of works like Dandelion Gum has been tamped down. BMSR no longer feel like staring into the grinning mouth of the most mind-shattering acid trip you've ever had. They feel beautifully tentative, soft, barely-there sketches of folk songs fleshed out with hollowed-out bits of analog synth chilling the atmosphere. One to hold close to your chest.
