Black Moth Super Rainbow, The Autumn Kaleidoscope Got Changed
Label: Rad Cult / The Orchard

Black Moth Super Rainbow retreat back into the chrysalis? Their latest, Autumn Kaleidoscope Got Changed, is a decidedly more subdued and, well, autumnal affair. The vintage synths are still here, yes, but the surreal cartoon insanity of works like Dandelion Gum has been tamped down. BMSR no longer feel like staring into the grinning mouth of the most mind-shattering acid trip you've ever had. the Autumn Kaleidoscope Got Changed

I have the satanstomping caterpillars version of this which is what BMSR was before they changed names. Still one of my most favorite finds ever. As already mentioned a much more pastoral sound. as the title states this is a great album for fall and just beautiful in the outdoors like on a road trip through the country. They also released two other cd's under the name Satanstomping caterpillars ...... Flower sides and The Most wonderful thing.

According to Discogs.com…

AntAllan

"Originally a private press CDR from 2001, released under the name Satanstompingcaterpillars, _The Autumn Kaleidoscope Got Changed_ was never properly released, and mainly just given out to friends. Some material made it onto the first real BMSR album, _Falling Through A Field_ in 2003, but Autumn's sound is more haunted and acoustic. Also included on [tracks12-17] is EP, _Sing To Us_, an even less produced CDR made up of songs left off of the album." – This package was released January 2010.

Not a new album!

This may be new to eMusic, but these are some of the first BMSR songs I knew, and the release date is 2001. Much more pastoral than their later stuff, but still with plenty of odd touches.

A Nice Change

Stevepsych

This band does many clever and flexible styles to their stuff. This kind of minimalist, sort of post-rock, sad and melancholic albums is wonderful for that kind of mood...
