This is the second best Sabbath album, right behind Sabotage. No joke, if you don't have this record, you don't know Sabbath. It's fucking amazing. I remember when I first heard it, I couldn't believe it! Iommi, somehow, figured out how to make his guitar sound even more thick and sludgy than before, and of course, RJD dominates this mutha! Blows "Diary of A Madman" out of the water. This is one of my 10 ten all time records.
It's great music for what it is but it is not the Black Sabbath with Ozzy. Ozzy was Black Sabbath, his style, his music. This Black Sabbath is a pale immitation of reality.
..and rebuked Dio Mk II Sabbath....a pity. Good tunage, great riffs, and some big sounds from Mr. Dio...RIP.
Mob Rules may be the best but this just may be next. Heaven & Hell. Download recommended for sure.
RJD INSPIRED ME 30 YEARS AGO, NOW I AM AGAIN INSPIRED ! THIS ENTIRE ALBUM IS FABULOUS!!!! MAY HE REST IN BLESSED PEACE! HE WILL BE EVER REMEMBERED!
Get "The Dio Years" instead.
After the departure of Ozzy, Dio fills in the shoes of the pioneers of Heavy Metal. Overall, one of the best 80s Metal Albums. If you are looking for a Dio album to start in his huge recording back catalog, start right here.
This release has nothing but awesome written all over it. Perhaps Tony Iommo's best riffs, at times chugging by like a runaway train and others times rolls thru like heavy fog. Do not think, just listen.
I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the rest of the album to get the two best songs on it... Heaven and Hell and Neon Knights. Clearly someone knows the score here.
