Radio Oddyssey, Vol. 2: the Georgia Music Show compiles a strong array of diverse and noteworthy talent. Here's a rundown...Nervous garage surf from the Rock A Teens. A 40's sounding call to the jitterbugs from The Continentals. Tortured mail vocals answer the inscrutable female voice in Pineal Ventana . Also memorable is the clapping, shaking, etc. rhythms and acoustic guitar of the folk artist Doe . The percussive Family Mover keeps the focus on the rhythm. The largely spoken word loneliness with odd musical backdrop is Bob. The singer from Velvet Overkill Five already knows all the cheap lines a man could use and has recycled them into something better. The Goodies give good instrumental that I love; bongos, bass, guitars and other. In the rare rock of Tweezer, nothing is stable save the drums. Marcy is the name of a spider weaving a web of distorted guitar and a plaintive, bleating synth. Verse-chorus-verse becomes bark-riff-bark with Heinous Bienfang . Frontstreet is gentle, not sappy; subtle, not crappy. 17 Years has a Stiff Little Fingers, vinage British punk. Like a Greek Tragedy, Smoke offers a forlorn chorus. The compilation ends with a shaggy dog comedy routine from Benjamin. This is the rare sixteen-track compilation that offers sixteen reasons to get it.
